Best of the Week
11 November 2014
The Whitsundays has turned on another splendid week of weather, with lots of visits from our resident turtles at Langford Reef.
The weekend was a bit quieter on the ship, with the town going crazy for the Airlie Beach Music Festival. How good was the atmosphere in town! We just loved seeing so many happy smiling faces and hearing all the amazing musicians that flocked to Airlie for the festival. What an incredible event for our town.
Musicians and fans a like are jumping on board Derwent Hunter, now that the festival has finished, to get a little taste of what the Whitsundays has to offer on the water.

Highlights from the ship’s log this week
“Thank you for a brilliant trip. The safety briefings were always clear and easy to follow. The pace of the day was just right.
“The tea and cake was our just reward for helping to sail the ship.
“The snorkelling spots were excellent and we saw more fish and turtles than I expected to see. Lunch was excellent, plenty to eat and great choice of dishes. The crew were very knowledgeable and attentive and made sure that all the passengers on today’s trip were cared for.
“The Derwent Hunter is a beautiful boat which I would recommend to anyone to come on.
“Thank you once again.”

“Better than we could imagine! Beautiful ship, great crew, delicious food, plus: amazing spots, breathtaking views, being face to face with turtles and parrot fishes.
“Thanks for this great day!”
– Clare Rodgers

“What ever you are paying Katy, you should double it! A little human dynamo. A statement of what young women can achieve!”

Katy is our deckhand from Charlston, USA, and has quickly adapted to the deck of a tallship and life in the tropics.
As a sailing instructor, Katy has plenty of experience teaching adults and children of all ages on all different types of yachts and dinghies. She is also a dab hand at racing, though we like to keep a more leisurely pace here in the Whitsundays!
Katy takes guests safely ashore for snorkelling activities, and makes sure everyone is safe whilst in the water.

Photo and Video Memory Packages
Derwent Hunter have recently enlisted the services of HD-Xposure and now every day there is a camera-wielding crew member on board.
Guests are able to buy a ‘Memories Package’ of their day trip out on Derwent Hunter, and a few of our favourite photos are shown every day on our Facebook page. We also compile a short 2-3 minute highlights video for our YouTube channel every day.
