Best of the Week
13 January 2015
What a wonderful week of weather again in the Whitsundays, sunny clear skies and perfect southerly winds ideal for sailing to protected islands and reefs.
We were also luck enough to have dolphins surfing on the bow wave twice this week, and of course the friendly green turtles at Langford and Black Island have been making daily appearances.
Interesting fact
The Derwent Hunter is a gaff rigged schooner as her main mast is bigger than the foremast. It is an ancient rig having been used for thousands of years.

Great Feedback continues from our Ship’s Logs

Crew Profile
Ali Ladd aka Jack of all trades
Another family member has rejoined the team on Derwent Hunter as a welcome break from University life.
Ali has been sailing on the Derwent since she was a young girl, and just like the ship, originally comes from Tasmania.
Now Queensland bound “Ali of the Galley” is a great multi-tasker. She prepares wonderful food, is a great hand on deck and when on snorkel watch she is sure to find some interesting reef fish and turtles to point out to our guests.
