Best of the Week
16 December 2014
With only 9 days left until Christmas, Airlie Beach is gearing up for a busy festive season. The magnificent Derwent Hunter will be sailing 7 days a week until the end of the school holidays (with the exception of Christmas Day and New Years Day).
Trips can fill quite quickly over Christmas, so remember to book early to make sure you don’t miss out.

Family time in the Whitsundays
Derwent is a great sailing option for families with kids of all ages. We encourage the kids to get involved, help sail the ship, dress up as pirates, snorkel from protected beacSwimming with Terry the Turtlehes, and of course learnabout the Great Barrier Reef. The Moir Family had lots of fun last week, young sailor Ryan, left us a beautiful drawing of himself swimming with Terry the Turtle and recorded the following in the Ship’s Log: “This trip was awesome! Got to swim with Terry the Turtle, see some beautiful sights and ride on the Derwent Hunter. P.S. Tell the chef he’s great at his job!”
Crew Christmas party
The crew let their hair down this week, for the annual Tallship Christmas party at Denman Cellars Beer Café, the theme was “Fancy Christmas” and a fun night was had by all.
Extracts from the Ship’s Log
“A lovely day spent enjoying the ocean, snorkelling. And the turtles!! I could feel the history in our boat and really loved the Derwent Hunter for all her soul shared with us today. Crew were great. Thanks.”
“What a ship! What a history! What a feeling to be some small part of it! I came seeking an experience and boy did the Derwent and her crew deliver! I leave (sadly) with a bug- an itch that someday will need to be scratched- to sail 🙂
Lots of Love to the Derwent & her crew”
