Happy New Year

6 January 2015

Christmas and New Year have been very busy in Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays. Guests of all ages and nationalities have been enjoying sailing and snorkelling to the magnificent Whitsunday Islands. The ‘silly season’ spirit has been evident – we even took out a dazzle of zebras on the Derwent Hunter one day!

The weather has been excellent, with only the odd “Wetsunday” day thrown in. Our crew usually call it liquid sunshine or a warm shower! Sea life has been very active, with turtles and fish life impressing our guests on a daily basis.

Family Time

Families of all ages have been enjoying the Derwent Hunter during the school holidays, it’s a great experience for the kids and parents to get involved and learn something about the reef and islands as well as having fun. Here are some of the recent extracts from our Ship’s Log…

“Our daughter had trained at snorkelling for 7 weeks to swim with a turtle. Today she did- she is 6- Thank you”

– Thexton Family

“Thanks for a great adventure. I’ve sailed the Whitsundays before but never on such a gorgeous boat; educated, friendly and conscientious staff made the trip even more memorable than the glowing turquoise waters and glistening white sands. Thank you again”

– Amy Taylor

“Wonderful day for a sail. Saw 3 turtles, lots of beautiful coral and friendly fish. Crew were very hospitable and reef education well done and interesting.”

– Thank you from Canada’s Taylor Crew

“Langford Island- Lying on the opposite side of the island, head on the sand with water lapping around your face… hearing the water lapping and popping as it meets the hot sand….. so relaxing + peaceful”

– Danielle, Brisbane

Zac Jesienowski

Zac joined the team in December, and is very talented crew member. He is a boat boy at heart having grown up on boats in Port Douglas, and completed 3 years studying Ocean Engineering at the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania.

But it doesn’t stop there… Zac is a wonderful singer and guitarist and has been delighting guests with his music whilst under sail on the way home from Langford Reef.
