Alex is back! Overnight tours now available
Derwent Hunter is thrilled to announce the triumphant return of Alexander Stewart, a beautiful unique tallship, to the Tallship Adventures fleet.
The first 2 day / 1 night trip took place on 2 November, with a full complement of happy guests on board, enjoying magical summery weather in the Whitsunday Islands.
Operators Warren and Jo Ladd are excited to see the vessel back in the fleet after a few years in Melbourne. The overnight sailing adventure will offer guests more choice of eco adventures in the Whitsundays, alongside Derwent Hunter’s day trip adventure.
The ship’s unique story
The Alexander Stewart is considered a work of art among wooden boat enthusiasts and was 17 years in the making by 3 generations of one family. Timbers such as Noumean Kauri, Ribbon Maple, Red Cedar, Silky Oak, Tasmanian Blackwood and Oregon give a rich old world feel to the large roomy interiors.
The accommodation and itinerary
All guests are accommodated in air-conditioned private double/twin cabins making it ideal for couples or those wanting a relaxed sailing experience in a smaller group. Alexander Stewart takes a maximum of 18 passengers.
There are 7 double cabins and 2x twins/1x 4-share single cabin available.
The trip will include a visit to famous Whitehaven Beach and the amazing lookout at Hill Inlet, plus a number of snorkelling opportunities, and use of paddle boards. The Tallship Adventures crew will be offering the signature eco commentary and quality guided experience that has won them awards in recent years.
