School holiday shenanigans on Derwent Hunter

School holiday shenanigans on Derwent Hunter

We love school holidays!

So many happy smiley faces! The kids love learning about all the fish and corals they see, and they love participating in the on board sailing activities, including being allowed to steer the ship and hoist the sails.

Our Eco Pirate program is a hit with the kids, and keeps them busy and learning on board and in the water. They then get a signed certificate from the captain at the end once they’ve completed all the tasks set for them.

“Magic day with family supported by a great crew. Highlight was involving the whole family in snorkeling on the Reef. The boogie board for the youngest was a great idea. Will recommend to others and book again on our next holiday to the region.”

-The Wood Family

We’ve got lots of extra special snorkelling options we can offer too. Those who don’t want to get wet and choose “dry snorkelling” from the dinghy with the ‘bathyscope’. We have noodles for extra flotation, and view boards for little who can’t swim strongly, but still want to get in the water to see the coral.

Two amazing 2-day options

For those who have two days to spend in the Whitsundays, we now have two options to offer.

1. Two day trips with our Chill & Thrill package. Spend a day relaxing with us on Derwent Hunter, and a day on a fast-paced thrill ride with Ocean Rafting.

2. Two day, one night overnight sailing adventure on our sister ship Alexander Stewart. Sailing the Whitsundays from November.

Beautiful thriving coral

We take our guests to a little spot on Hook Island for some lovely snorkelling adventures. Check out how good the coral is looking down there! There’s wonderful new growth and lots of old growth corals there too.

A late treat for Sea Princess cruise ship guests

The Sea Princess made a later than typical stop in Airlie Beach last week, so we had the pleasure of some day time snorkelling and a sunset sail home with a cold drink in hand.

Guests also got a close up look at their big white floating hotel from the deck of our traditional timber tall ship. We love the juxtaposition of old and new.

End of term day out for year 9 students

Year 9 students from the local St Catherine’s Catholic College joined us for a day of team building at the end of term.
